Fire at AXEL Americas plant in Rosedale
We are obliged to inform you that AXEL Americas LLC experienced a fire in its manufacturing and warehousing facility in Rosedale, Mississippi on February 29. The fire was controlled and successfully extinguished in approximately one hour. All AXEL employees are safe and a contractor was treated by the rescue team for blisters due to spray of hot-oil and he returned to work the next day. Fire investigators have commissioned an investigation of the cause of the fire. The main scene of the fire was below the mezzanine floor where new process equipment was recently installed. The existing process equipment was not involved in the fire. The warehouse, including finished goods, office and lab were not burned, and we will ensure that any finished product shipped complies with agreed specifications.
This extraordinary event may impact our ability to make deliveries to customers for a period of time, although several dispatches of finished goods were made from the warehouse last week, starting already the following day. However, based on the dedicated efforts of AXEL employees and vendors, we believe that the suspension of production and delivery of new material could be limited to as little as 10 working days and are currently targeting to start partial production mid-week.
Insurance companies and building contractors are now fully engaged and working with AXEL Americas to minimize the disruption to our business. We will of course continue to do everything possible to resume normal operations as quickly as possible, incl operating 7-days week, in order to get back on line and catch with lost time up to provide all customers with the normal level of service.
We apologize for any inconvenience as a result of this incident and are communicating more specifically with our customers on an individual basis.
